My family and I spent the weekend of August 18th-19th at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. It?s really quite amazing how Disney evolves their experiences to keep everyone in the family engaged and enjoying being there. Each trip we get to do something new and this trip was no exception.
Many perceive the Magic Kingdom as a park more directed at smaller children. With most rides with no height requirements, it?s easy to make that assumption. Recently at Magic Kingdom, they have implemented a ?Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom? Spell card game. You can register as a volunteer sorcerer at the fire house on Main Street. You can then proceed to your first spell casting portal found on your special map you receive at registration. With your access key in hand, the portal comes to life and you use your spell cards to beat the various villains in each of the storied lands of the Magic Kingdom. This is a great activity to keep older children and the big ?kids? engaged while waiting in between rides or traveling around the park.
One the flip side, Epcot is perceived more as park for adults. With themed lands and cuisine around the world and few rides, another easy assumption to make. They have implemented a new game at Epcot for children involving Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenschmertz from Phineas and Ferb. At the registration booth just before the World Showcase, your ?secret agent? receives a cell phone and heads to their first land to solve the mystery and help Agent P. Your child will get a chance to learn about the country their in and walk around the little nooks and crannies of each area you may not always get to see. There are also camera spots, and mechanical scenes with Agent P and Dr. Doofenschmertz. On our particular trip to France, we also received a free squashed penny to add to our collection. My 12 year old daughter absolutely loved this activity and can?t wait to go back.
With these new imaginitive activities, this keeps Disney fresh and entertaining. As passholders, we?re hoping to get to see the preview of the New Fantasyland in November. The new rides look great and you could tell that construction is almost complete!

Hope you have a magical time on your next Disney adventure!
