Relaxation and fun are both in abundance in various locations when people opt for UK holidays. The British Isles are relatively small, however the amount of places, resorts and locations to visit is very large.
While the capitals of Edinburgh and London are the most popular city locations, there are also a number of smaller cities in the UK that offer exactly the same sort of rich history that people crave. Although the city of London is enormous, most of the major attractions are situated within a five mile radius.
Edinburgh is a smaller, more compact city, allowing visitors to explore most of it on foot. While all of the cities of the UK are centuries old, no other town offers more than Portsmouth. This naval town has been the base of the Royal Navy for several centuries. Nelson?s flagship, the HMS Victory can be boarded and explored, along with countless other naval treasures.
The National Parks of the UK offer stunning locations, views and areas for leisure activities. While the Lakes District and Peak District offer beautiful walks and climbing, the highlands of Scotland provide the scenery for some stunning skiing resorts. The Scottish Lakes, referred to locally as ?lochs? are a beautiful backdrop to some stunning scenery.
The traditional British seaside coastal resort has enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent years. As people look for cheaper alternatives to expensive foreign holidays, towns such as Blackpool, Brighton and Scarborough have experienced a surge in popularity. These resorts offer family entertainment during the day or night.
