Project Developer will support the development and growth of office capabilities in acquiring and executing energy contracting solutions. Key activities will include working with Clients and office team members on sales and sales strategy, client and opportunity qualification, preliminary and detailed audit scope development, team and audit management (Schedule/Budget) during preliminary and detailed audits and assisting the team with contract development and Client presentations and meetings for performance contracts, complex turnkey and other contracting offerings. The remainder of the Project Developer?s time will be spent working with Account Executives to identify and qualify opportunities as well as work with the operations teams to effectively execute contracting projects. The Project Developer may be the Subject Matter Expert in acquiring and fulfilling Vertical Market Entry Offers.
Essential Job Functions
-Assist with Client qualification and meetings during the acquisition phase of the Comprehensive Solutions Sales Process
-Assist with defining Client objectives and business drivers
-Perform opportunity technical qualification including Preliminary Audits, Benchmarking, Site Surveys, and Interviews
-Manage Preliminary Audit and Entry Offer Activities
-Manage and conduct Detailed Audit Activities including the development and pricing of the scope for the audit; scope development for the ECM/FIM; consultant and contractor qualification and selection along with Request for Proposals for their work; communicate with the Energy Engineering Lead, Project Management Lead, and Controls/Service/Equipment Trane team members; plan and work the audit schedule; develop and manage the audit budget; review the consultant and contractor deliverables to Trane during the audit and approve progress payments as appropriate; plan and participate in the Client meetings and site visits; plan, prepare, and assist in the presentations to the Client; prepare and review the audit deliverables; plan and execute the quality control reviews for deliverables; plan and execute the audit safety plan; and coordinate with the CSAE or Opportunity Leader for the Level of Authority reviews.
-Directly execute the project development process for multiple comprehensive solution opportunities at the same time.
-Participate in Strategic Opportunity Reviews as requested.
-Other duties as assigned.
-Requires a strong background in performance contracting, energy engineering
-Ability to establish and develop strong teams including Trane employees and outside individuals
-Solid understanding of consultative, solution selling
-Ability to develop solid relationships with internal and external customers
-Have the capability to discuss both technical concepts around HVACR and controls, as well as understand and converse at the business/strategic level
-Comfortable engaging at the ?C Suite? level in customer?s organizations
-Must maintain a positive attitude that seeks to find solutions to challenges
-Ability to interact with outside customers, and bring value to the selling process
-Significant travel (up to 60%) required, with the ability to manage a travel schedule that is changeable on short notice (can include global travel).
-Respond effectively to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-Ability to thrive in a team environment and effectively communicate in a matrix organization.
-Demonstrated ability to cope with stress and maintain a professional and cooperative temperament.
-Ability to perform audits for HVAC, Lighting, Controls, Renewable Energy Systems, Water, and special systems and recommend improvements for reducing or controlling usage or for comfort or production improvements.
-Solid understanding of construction methods and practices and ability to communicate with consultants and contractors
-Solid understanding of Project Management and its processes and application to existing building retrofit applications
Education, Experience:
-4 degree(or equivalent experience)
-Experience in owner direct sales
-Min. 5 years of experience in Project Management for HVACR related work required
-Experience in HVAC and Controls/Lighting Design and Analysis required
-Experience in HVAC and Controls Industry required
-Min. 10 years of experience in Performance Contracting required
-Min. 5 years of experience managing people required
-Min. 5 years of experience in Renewable Energy, Vertical Market, Federal ESPC, or other Technical/Business
-Excellent Communication Skills - Oral, Written, Executive Presentation, Training
-Business Savvy - Financial Selling, Contracts, High-Level Owner
-Management Experience - Process Oriented, Team Oriented, ability to coach others
-Performance Contracting Sales a bonus but not required - Qualify, Initiate, Propose and Close the Contract
